Optimize Brain Functioning with Brain Mapping

Have you ever wondered why your brain acts a certain way? With neurofeedback therapy, you can find out why.

Methods like qEEG brain mapping allow us to understand your brain’s electrical activity, identify areas of dysregulation, and reinforce positive brain behaviors to optimize your mental performance.

At Elite Neurotherapy, we use brain mapping to diagnose areas of strength and weakness in the brain, which can create a clear path on how to optimize your brain functioning. Our treatments are tailored based on your results, so you can see noticeable changes in your cognitive functioning.

What is a qEEG?

In neurofeedback, an EEG measures your electrical brain activity. Conversely, quantitative EEG (qEEG) maps out that activity in a brain map. Compared to an MRI, a qEEG is less expensive and provides more specific information about cortical timing.

The brain is incredibly fast, and even minuscule differences in timing in a brain area can have profound functional implications.

Essentially, a qEEG is a computer analysis of the EEG data. It typically uses 19 or more channels of simultaneous EEG recording under specific recording conditions.

This EEG data is compared against a reference database of other people’s EEGs. The analysis identifies and highlights variations from the norm (average).

For instance, the qEEG report could show brain areas where there is too much or too little EEG activity compared to the norm. It could also show which areas are not communicating well with other areas. Excessive EEG activity or poor communication typically correlates with lower brain efficiency.

What can you tell from a Brain Map?

A qEEG Brain Map provides a detailed view of brain activity by analyzing electrical patterns across different regions of the brain. It can reveal various brainwave imbalances associated with specific mental health conditions.

For example, with ADHD, the Brain Map might show excessive slow-wave (theta) activity; in anxiety, increased beta waves; and in depression, reduced alpha activity. It can also highlight dysregulation in sleep-related brainwaves for conditions like insomnia.

This information informs your neurofeedback brain-training protocol and helps us address and target the specific neurological patterns underlying each condition.
